Minding Mamas Mind is a movement urging mothers, families, communities and governments to take notice . It's a movement as clear as it sounds, to mind (care for) mamas minds! With suicide as the leading cause of maternal deaths in Australia, I believe the time has come to speak up, speak out and demand better resources, support and treatment of mothers mental health. If our mothers are suffering it has devastating effect on our society. How can we expect her to care for herself, her family or for her community if she is unwell. It is everyone's responsibility to demand better care for our mothers.
As women and mother's we can find it difficult to prioritise ourselves and our mental health but Mamas if we don't do it who will? The harsh reality is Mother's are isolated, traumatised, depressed, anxious, desperate and dying! This is unacceptable. We deserve better.
Please join the Minding Mamas Mind movement! 1. Use the #mindingmamasmind and share a picture of yourself and your reason for joining the MMM movement. Each week I will choose one photo to share to my facebook and instagram. This may help another mother and family and also help spread the Minding Mamas Mind message even further! 2. Use the #mindingmamasmind in your posts to spread awareness of perinatal mental health and to encourage mothers to tell their stories and reach out for support. 3. Write to your local politicians demanding better perinatal mental health care.
Stay tuned for other ways to join the movement!
"If anybody is feeling down, needs advice, where to go what to do I highly recommend you attend any of Afterglow workshops.
We will definitely be going to more. Great work Stefanie . We really need you in our community. Thank you"
"I think Project Afterglow's services are excellent and so needed in our society where we no longer have a large village of support post baby." RF
