Afterglow (Af.ter.glow) noun A glow remaining where a light has disappeared
Hi my name is Stefanie Poole. I’m a home visiting Counsellor, Postpartum Doula and Motherhood Coach working out of Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. I work with pregnant and new mothers who would like to reduce stress and overwhelm and gain acceptance and fulfillment during their transition into motherhood.
We plan for the birth of our babies but what about the emotional and practical support we will need after our baby arrives? Caring for your emotional wellbeing before, during and after birth is so important. In our society, we seem to equate mental health with mental illness. In reality, not everyone experiences a mental illness but we all have mental health. Our mental health is something that can fluctuate depending on many factors. Mental health operates on a continuum and like any other aspect of health, we need to take preventative measures to nourish and maintain it before it reaches boiling point. Prioritising your mental health is not selfish it's a necessity for yourself, your baby, your family and the community. It’s time we as mother’s give ourselves permission to nurture our mental health and put ourselves first.
Please give your self credit for taking the first step in asking for help. Now give yourself permission to receive it! I look forward to speaking with you and working together to support you in reclaiming your mama glow.
With light and love,
"I am enough I accept that motherhood has been a difficult road for me. Although my light may have dimmed, I will glow again!" - Stefanie
